How do I solve this problem? It has to do with rates.? - streaming heather harmon

Heather George and rented a small boat with an electric motor. The speed of the boat in calm water was 3 miles per hour. A speed of 8 miles, which has the same time as a journey of 2 miles taken before. What was the rate of flow in the bay?

8 miles (engine speed [3] + current speed) = 2 miles / (engine speed [3] - the percentage of current)

try to find the number of x 8 / (3 + x) = 2 / (3-x)

You have the downstream (the velocity of the water + 3) T = 8, and (3 - water velocity) t = 2 and two "t" are the same. Well, t = 8 / (v + 3) in the first case, and T = 2 / (3. - V) and are equal. So 10 V = 18, and the water moves at 1.8 km / h.
